Daly shoots 67 in windy conditions, one back in Qatar
Doha, Qatar - Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano birdies in his last three holes, carding a 6-under 66 to overcome the Qatar Masters, and the wind blows sand John Daly byone shot lead after the first round on Thursday.
Daly (67) was from K.J. followed Choi (68) and Jason Day (68). Six players,including 1999 British Open champion Paul Lawrie and Nicolas Colsaerts werethree shots behind the leader. Martin Kaymer (71) and Sergio Garcia (72) were indispute, but about two-thirds of the field shot over par, including defending championThomas Bjorn (79).
"It's just happened," Fernandez-Castano said with a smile. "It was a difficult day, that you had no expectations going out there. Every shot was difficult. Every shot had tobe concentrated to 100 percent. That's probably what I in the game."
